Faceware Tech - Motion Capture Helmet

During my time as a designer and CNC manager at Human Dynamo, I had the privilege of undertaking the design of a prototype motion capture helmet for Faceware Tech.

To commence this process, I used approximately 40 different 3D head scans of various actors to identify the most representative head shape. This served as the basis for creating the initial shell design for the helmet. Subsequently, I machined a two-part prototype mould to evaluate the fit on actual individuals.

Further refinement was achieved by incorporating fillets and adjusting cutout sizes as needed. The final product featured three distinct padding thicknesses to allow for additional customization based on the user's size requirements.
