Rainbow Springs Tuatara Head

While serving as a designer and CNC manager at Human Dynamo, I was assigned the job of designing and machining an 11-part mould to produce a fibreglass shell from.

To accomplish this, I received a mesh file of a tuatara's head and meticulously designed the moulds, taking care to optimise draft angles and strategically place the joins to minimise their visibility. The fibreglass moulding process yielded successful results, subsequently requiring sanding and painting.

This interactive installation, simulating tuatara vision, is currently on display at Rainbow Springs in Rotorua, alongside another intricately machined and fabricated piece—a weta—which was also created in-house at Human Dynamo.
